Handmadeness

Our place is located in Malad West, near Mandvi Circle, at Vadodara 1/210. It’s a bit of a specific spot to find if you aren't familiar with the area. The shop is filled with things we’ve put together by hand. It’s not like those big stores where everything looks exactly the same. Here, you might notice small differences in every piece, which is just part of how things turn out when you aren't using big machines. We have bits of fabric, wood, and thread scattered around the back where we work. It’s often a mess of supplies, but we know where the good scissors are kept. Sometimes we spend hours just trying to get one small detail to look right. We don't follow a strict corporate schedule; if a project is going well, we stay late to finish it. The shop has a very lived-in feel to it. There’s an old rug on the floor and some mismatched chairs for when friends or customers want to sit and talk. We don't do any big promotions or sales. We just put our items on the shelves and let people see them for themselves. It’s a quiet life for the most part, unless the traffic at Mandvi Circle gets particularly bad. We enjoy the process of making things and seeing them go to a good home. It’s a small operation, and we like it that way because we can keep track of everything personally at Handmadeness.
