Gautam Bearings

Gautam Bearings is located at Shop No 31 on the second floor of Daga Ch. We are in Masjid Bunder West, which is a very crowded market area. We’re near Abdul Rehman Street and Thakur Village. Getting up to the second floor can be a bit of a hike with heavy parts, but we are used to it. We stock all kinds of bearings for machinery and vehicles. The shop is filled with shelves from floor to ceiling. It's a bit of a maze in here if you don't know where things are kept. Masjid Bunder is famous for being busy, so there are always people rushing around outside. We deal with mechanics and factory owners who need specific parts. Sometimes they bring in an old bearing and we have to find the exact match. It takes time and looking through old catalogs. We don't have a computer system that tracks everything perfectly, so we rely on memory a lot. My father started this business, and I’ve been helping out since I was a kid. It’s dusty work, and your hands are always a bit greasy by the end of the day. We don't do any big marketing. People know us because we’ve been here so long. The stairs in Daga Ch are steep and narrow, so you have to be careful. Abdul Rehman Street is a sea of people, which can be exhausting. But being in the middle of Masjid Bunder means we are close to all our suppliers. We don't spend money on fancy furniture. It's mostly just metal racks and old wooden stools. We keep a ledger on the desk to write down what we sell. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it hasn't failed us yet. We just try to have the right parts in stock.
