Ganesh Waterpurifier

Our little spot is located in Nehru Nagar, right on the station road in Andheri. We are in room number fourteen, which isn't very large, but it’s enough for what we do at Ganesh Waterpurifier. Since we are so close to the station, there is a constant noise of trains and the crowd rushing by outside our door. Most of our work involves the local houses around Andheri where the water can be a bit tricky sometimes. We spend the morning sorting through filters, membranes, and plastic tubing. It’s a lot of small parts that need to be kept track of. Often, one of us is out on a scooter with a bag of tools, heading to someone's kitchen to fix a leak or change a filter. The shop itself is mostly a place to store our stock and take phone calls from people in the neighborhood who have stopped getting clean water from their taps. It’s a practical business. We don't have any fancy displays or lights. Just the work of keeping water flowing clearly for the families nearby. Sometimes the station road gets so crowded that it takes ten minutes just to move the bike out of the lane, but that’s life in this part of Mumbai. We’ve been here long enough that the other shopkeepers are like neighbors, and we all just get through the day together.
