Gajanan Tailors

Our shop is located in the Shroff Building in Lal Baug, number 32964. If you know the Lal Baug area, you know how busy it gets, especially during the big festivals. We are right in the middle of all that. We’ve been tailoring clothes here for a long time. The shop is filled with rolls of cloth, sewing machines, and bits of thread everywhere. It is not the most organized place, but we know where everything is. We spend most of our time bent over the machines or measuring people for new shirts and trousers. It is loud because of the machines and the street noise coming in from the open door. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know how to stitch. People come in with their fabric and we talk about how they want it to fit. Sometimes we are very busy and the floor is covered in scraps of fabric. We don't do any fancy advertising; people just know us because we’ve been in the Shroff Building for years. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but we usually get the work done. It’s a simple life of needles and thread. We see all kinds of people from the neighborhood. It’s a bit dusty and the building is old, but it’s home for our business. We just keep sewing every day.
