You’ll find G S M Mobile Repair over in Chembur West. We don't have a big fancy storefront with neon lights. It’s just a honest little shop where we fix what’s broken. Chembur is a crowded place, and there is always a lot of dust in the air from the road and the nearby trains. I spend a good portion of my morning just cleaning the workspace so I can see the phone parts clearly. I’ve been working on mobiles since the old keypad days. Things have changed a lot, but the basic idea is the same. People come in upset because they dropped their phone, and I try to make it right for them. Sometimes I can fix it in ten minutes, other times I have to keep it overnight because I need a part from the market. I don't promise things I can't do. If it’s dead, I’ll tell you it’s dead right away. The shop gets pretty hot in the summer because the ventilation isn't the best, but we have a small table fan that helps keep the air moving. I usually eat my lunch right here at the desk between customers. It’s a simple life. I like being my own boss, even if the hours are long and the work is tedious. Most of the people in Chembur West know me by now. They stop by just to say hello even if their phone is working fine. It’s nice to be part of the street.
