Furnitech

Furnitech is located near the Hotel Leela on A K Road in Andheri East. We are inside the Swami Vivekanand Industrial Estate on Handewadi Road. This is a very industrial part of the city, so there is always the sound of machinery and trucks moving in the background. Our space is filled with the smell of wood and polish. We have different pieces of furniture in various stages of being finished. Some are just raw frames and others are getting their final coat of varnish. There is sawdust on the floor no matter how much we sweep, but that is just part of making things. We work with our hands and a lot of different tools to get the shapes right. The industrial estate gets quite hot in the summer months, but we keep the big doors open to get a breeze. We have a small area where we keep the finished pieces before they are sent out to the customers. It is a practical workshop where we focus on the task at hand. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. People usually come here to see how we make things and to check on their orders. We have been in this spot in Andheri for a while and we have a good group of guys who know how to handle the wood. It is honest work and we take our time with it.
