If you go to Mumbai and find Kasturi Chowk 2, you will see Friends Talk Mobile. It’s a small shop where we spend most of our time staring at tiny screws and phone screens. I started this with a friend because we both liked taking things apart. Now we just do it for work. We fix a lot of broken glass and dead batteries. The chowk is always loud with people shouting and horns blowing. It’s a busy corner. We have chairs for customers to sit while they wait, but usually they just stand and watch us work. We sell some covers and chargers too, hung up on the walls. The walls could use a new coat of paint but we never seem to find the time to close the shop and do it. We stay open late because that is when people realize their phones are broken. Sometimes we are here until ten or eleven at night. It’s not a corporate store. It’s just us. We drink a lot of tea from the stall next door. Sometimes the shop feels too small when three or four people come in at once. We just handle one thing at a time. People know us in the neighborhood as the guys who can usually figure out why a phone won't turn on. That is pretty much all there is to it. We just keep working until the job is done.
