Fahim Sofawala is a small workshop located at 105 Sion. We spend our days surrounded by old wooden frames, rolls of fabric, and plenty of foam. It’s a dusty job, and our hands are usually covered in something by the end of the day. People bring us their worn-out sofas that are starting to sag or have torn covers, and we do our best to fix them up. We don't have a big showroom with bright lights. You just come into the shop, pick out a fabric you like from the bundles we have, and we get to work. It’s just us and our tools here. We do the stitching, the padding, and the frame repairs right on the floor. Sion is a busy area, so there is always noise from the street while we are working. We use a sturdy old sewing machine and some basic hand tools to get everything done. It takes a bit of time to get the springs and the cushioning just right so the sofa feels solid again. We’ve been in this spot for years, and most of our work comes from people living nearby who know we do a decent job. It is a straightforward business with no fancy talk. We just focus on the furniture and making sure it’s fit for use again. That is how we spend our time every day.
