Evergreen Furniture

Evergreen Furniture is located right in the middle of the Khar West Main Market. If you walk down Link Road, you just have to look behind the fish market to find us. You can usually tell you’re getting close because of the smell from the market, which is something you just get used to after a week of working here. Our shop is at number 6, and it’s packed with different pieces of wood and finished items. There isn't much space to move around sometimes because we try to keep a lot of stock on hand for people to see. It’s a dusty job, dealing with furniture all day, so we are always wiping things down. The market outside is always chaotic with people looking for bargains and rickshaws honking their horns. Inside, it’s a bit different, mostly the sound of wood being moved or someone checking a hinge. We don’t have fancy displays with bright lights; it’s more about just showing what we have available. Most of our day is spent talking to people who wander in after doing their grocery shopping or coming from the fish stalls. It’s a practical kind of place. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while now and the locals know where to look when they need a new cupboard or a table. We just open the shutters in the morning and stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. It is just a normal shop run by people who like wood.
