Dee-Kay Gears is tucked away in the Dee-Kay Industrial Estate, which is off Lake Road in Bhandup West. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but it’s a quiet enough spot for an industrial area. We specialize in gears, so the shop is full of specialized machinery and the constant sound of metal being precision cut. It’s not the kind of place you just stumble upon. People usually come looking for us specifically when they need gear work done. The estate has been our home for a long time. We have our routines here. The morning starts with checking the machines and making sure the oil levels are right. We don't have a big corporate office or a floor full of managers. It's just us and the machines. Bhandup West can get quite congested, but once you get inside the estate, it’s all about the work. We don't put out a lot of advertisements. Most of our work comes from word of mouth or long-standing relationships with other shops in the area. We focus on the teeth of the gears and making sure everything fits together as it should. It’s a technical job that requires a lot of patience and steady hands. Some days are frustrating when a machine breaks down or a measurement is slightly off, but we fix it and keep going.
