Curio Treasure

Our shop, Curio Treasure, is number 14 in the Oberoi Shopping Centre. It’s right inside the Hotel The Oberoi at Nariman Point. Since it’s in the hotel, it’s a lot quieter than the streets outside. We have all sorts of odd things on the shelves. Statues, old coins, and little boxes. It’s a small room, so you have to be careful not to knock anything over with your bag. I’ve been working here for years, and I still find things I forgot we had. The lighting is a bit soft, which makes the brass items look nice. We get a lot of travelers who are just looking for something to take home. They usually have a lot of questions about where things came from. I tell them what I know, but I’m not an historian. We just like interesting things. The hotel staff are friendly, and we see the same faces every day. It’s a calm place to spend the day. Sometimes nobody comes in for hours, then suddenly three families are squeezed inside. We don’t do any big ads or marketing. The sign outside the door is enough. It’s a bit of a treasure hunt in here. We try to keep things dusted, but with so many small objects, it’s a constant task. We just enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the shop. I think it’s been here since the hotel opened, or at least it feels that way to me.
