We are located at number 6 in Santacruz East. It is a fairly busy part of the neighborhood. Our office is not much to look at from the outside, just a regular door and a sign. Inside, we have our desks and a lot of cabinets filled with folders. Financial work involves a lot of paper, as you can probably guess. We spend most of our time looking at bank statements and tax forms. People come in with all sorts of questions about their money. Sometimes they are worried about their savings or they just need help understanding a new rule. We sit down with them and try to explain things in plain English. It can be a bit dry, but it is important work. We have been in this spot for a while now. The tea lady comes by twice a day and that is usually the highlight of our afternoon. The fans overhead hum constantly to keep the heat away. We don't use any fancy software that does everything for us. It is mostly manual checking and double-checking numbers on a screen. Sometimes the internet goes slow and we just have to wait it out. It is just a small team of us here. We keep it quiet and focused. There is always a stack of documents waiting to be filed away. We just take it one person at a time and try to get the numbers right for them.
