City Telecom Mobile Shop is located right in the middle of Sakinaka at number 21. If you know this area, you know how crowded and loud it can get with all the rickshaws and people rushing to the metro. Our shop is just one of many along this stretch, but we have our regulars who come by. We spend a lot of time looking at screens and fiddling with small parts. It’s a lot of sitting behind the counter and waiting for the next person to come in with a cracked screen or a battery issue. The space is quite tight, so we have to be careful about where we put everything. We don't really have a big team, just a few of us who know our way around a mobile phone. There’s always something to do, whether it’s cleaning the glass or sorting out the new stock that arrived. Expanding into some giant chain isn't the plan; we just like being the local shop where people can stop in quickly. Most of the time, we’re just chatting with customers about their day while we work on their devices. It’s a simple way to make a living. The shop gets a bit hot in the summer, but we manage. We’ve been at Sakinaka 21 for a good while now and we’ve seen a lot of phones come and go.
