Chhaya Industries

Our place is Gala No 43 in Shiv Ratan CHS, over in Kandivali West. It is a tight space, but we’ve managed to fit all the machinery we need to get the jobs done. Chhaya Industries isn't a massive factory, just a local workshop where we spend our days making things. The sounds of the machines are constant, so you get used to shouting a bit just to be heard over the noise. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, especially in the summer, but we keep the fans going and just get on with it. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. The gala next door makes plastic parts, so there is always something being loaded or unloaded in the lane. It is a bit of a mess sometimes with the trucks and the delivery boys, but that is Kandivali for you. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy lobby. If you come by, you’ll probably find me with grease on my hands or checking some measurements on a workbench. My son helps out on the weekends when he isn’t at college. We take our lunch together on the small mezzanine floor we built. It is not much, but it is our own business and we take care of the orders as they come in. No big speeches about what we do, we just do it. It is just a simple life here in the industrial gala.
