Chhaya A Kapadia

Started here in Kandivali a while back. It’s on the second floor of the building at Bannerghatta Cross Road. Getting up those stairs can be a bit much if you’re carrying stuff, but you get used to it after a week. Chhaya runs things here mostly. The space isn't huge, just enough for what we do every day. Sometimes the traffic outside on the 1st Stage gets loud, especially in the afternoons when everyone is rushing home. We usually have the windows open if it's not too dusty. It’s a plain office really. We keep our files organized on the metal racks. Most people who come by are locals from the neighborhood. We know the tea stall guy downstairs pretty well by now. He brings over cutting chai around four o'clock. The light in the afternoon hits the desk just right. It's not a fancy setup with glass partitions or anything like that. Just some desks and chairs and the work we need to finish. Sometimes the fan makes a bit of a clicking sound but nobody minds it. It’s been our spot for a good bit of time. We just focus on getting through the paperwork and meeting the folks who drop in. It feels like a regular part of the street now. Nothing more to it than that. Just a small place on the second floor where we spend our days and handle the business as it comes.
