I’ve been around Matunga East for quite some time now, mostly working as Chandra M Raichandani out of this spot on Gill Road. It’s a busy part of the neighborhood, always something happening outside the window. People ask how long I’ve been here and honestly, I lose track of the years. It’s just where I set up shop and stayed. The building isn’t anything special to look at, just a regular place where the work gets done every day. I try to keep things simple here. My desk is usually covered in papers and there is always a cup of tea getting cold somewhere. Some days are quieter than others, but mostly it is just the steady hum of the street and the routine of the day. You get to know the people walking by and the shopkeepers around the corner. It feels right being part of the local fabric here. I don’t really bother with fancy signs or anything like that because most people find me through word of mouth anyway. Matunga has changed a lot since I first arrived, but this little corner on Gill Road feels pretty much the same to me. I just come in, do what needs doing, and head home when it’s finished. It is a straightforward life and a straightforward way of doing things, which is exactly how I like it. No big fuss, just a local person doing their bit in a part of the city that feels like home.
