Chaitanya Plastic

Our shop, Chaitanya Plastic, is tucked away in Gala No 2 at Kulkarni Wadi in Ghatkopar West. It’s a bit hard to find if you don't know the way around J M M Road. We’ve been in this gala for years, surrounded by other small workshops and businesses. The noise from the street and the nearby units is just something we live with. Inside, it’s mostly stacks of raw materials and finished items ready to go out. It’s a practical space, not meant for looking pretty. We spend our mornings loading and unloading stuff. The floor is concrete and has plenty of cracks from heavy things being moved around. My brother and I run the place along with two other guys who have been with us since the start. We don't really have a front desk; we usually just talk to people while we’re working. The heat from the machines makes the place stuffy, so we keep the big door open as much as we can. Sometimes customers come in with very specific ideas, and we have to explain what’s possible and what isn't with the tools we have. We aren't a big factory, just a local unit doing our bit. There’s always a layer of dust on everything, no matter how much we clean. That’s just the nature of working with plastic in an area like this. We stay until the work is done, sometimes even past sunset when the street lights come on. It is honest work for us every single day.
