Bonton Music ended up in a bit of a funny spot over at Kemps Corner. We are located in the New Cloth Market at 98/A. It might seem strange to have a music shop in a place called a cloth market, but it has worked out for us. The hallways are narrow and you can usually smell the fabric from the other shops nearby. Our space is filled with instruments and gear, which makes it feel a bit cramped, but in a good way. We have stuff leaning against the walls and cases stacked up in the corners. It is a bit of a maze once you get inside. Most people who come in are looking for something specific, or they just want to talk about sound for an hour. We don't mind. The lighting is a little dim in the back, but it helps the place feel a bit more relaxed than the busy market outside. On rainy days, the sound of the water hitting the market roof is quite loud, which makes it hard to hear the music sometimes. We have got a small desk where we do all the sales and paperwork. It is messy and covered in old catalogs and spare strings. We don't spend much time cleaning up because there is always something else to fix or move. It is a local kind of shop where we know the regulars who pass by every day on their way to the other stalls.
