Black Smith

Our shop is at Plot No-C/3 in Shiva Industrial Estate. It’s on Lake Road, not too far from the Tata Power plant. Bhandup West is a pretty busy place and the traffic on Lake Road can be a real headache in the evenings when everyone is trying to get home. We do a lot of metal work here, so it’s naturally quite a noisy environment with the machines running. The hammers and tools are going for most of the day. It’s not the kind of place you’d want to wear a nice suit to, as there’s always a bit of soot or metal dust in the air. We’ve got a regular group of workers who have been with us for a while. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Mumbai, we just handle the jobs that come our way. Sometimes the heat from the forge makes the whole place feel like an oven, especially during the summer months. We have a small corner where we keep the finished pieces before they get picked up by the customers. It’s a bit disorganized at times, with scrap metal sitting in the back and tools scattered on the benches. We don’t really have a reception area, just the workspace where everything happens. If you walk in, you’ll probably see us right in the middle of a project. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until night.
