We are located down at Shop 33/35 on Bapu Khote Street, which is right near the Gulalwadi Circle in Masjid. It’s a very old part of the city and the streets are always packed with people and carts. Our shop has been around for quite a while, and it’s filled with all sorts of things we’ve gathered over the years. We mostly handle hardware and metal goods. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, and we have to use an old wooden ladder to reach the top rows. It’s a bit dark inside because the buildings are so close together, but we know where everything is. My family has been working in this area for a long time. We start early in the morning when the market is just waking up and stay open until the street lights come on. It’s not the kind of place with air conditioning or glass windows. We have a heavy metal shutter that we roll up every day. There is always a lot of shouting and the sound of horns from the circle outside. We spend our time talking to customers, weighing out parts, and writing down orders in our ledgers. It’s a busy, messy, and loud way to spend the day, but it’s what we know. We just keep the stock moving and try to stay organized in the middle of all the chaos.
