Balaji Businesspagesctronics is located in Chembur at 28-B/2 in the Navjivan Society. It is right on R. C. Road so there is plenty of activity nearby. Being inside a residential society means we are part of a small community here. The office is basically a converted residential space. It has a bit of an old-school vibe with heavy wooden desks and some old ceiling fans that have been running for years. We handle a lot of electronic parts and various types of paperwork every day. Chembur is a very busy part of town so there is always some noise coming from the street traffic outside. We have got a small balcony where we keep some potted plants that barely survive the Mumbai heat. The staff here has been together for a long time. We know each other’s families and we have plenty of stories to tell while we work. We do not have a fancy reception area or a waiting room. If someone comes in to see us, they just pull up a chair next to one of the desks. We spend a lot of our time on the phone talking to different vendors and customers. The society gate is usually open but the security guards ask questions sometimes if they don’t recognize the visitor. We eat our lunch together around half past one in the afternoon. Someone usually brings something from home to share with the rest of us. It is not a high-pressure environment, just a place where we work. The tea arrives at four.
