Ayushi General Stores

If you come down to Malad East near Gate No 8, you will find us at Shop No 4 in the Vaishali area. It is a small shop, but we pack a lot into the shelves. Every morning starts with pulling up the heavy shutters and sweeping the front step before the sun gets too high. Ayushi General Stores has been here for a while, and we see the same people every day heading to work or taking their kids to school. We stock the usual things people need, like soap, snacks, and household items. The shelves are pretty high, so we have a small wooden stool to reach the top. It gets quite crowded in the evenings when everyone is coming home. We don't have a computer system; we just know where everything is and what things cost. Sometimes we chat with the neighbors for a bit while we bag their items in simple plastic bags. It can get hot in the afternoons, so we have a small fan that stays on all day. The street outside is always busy with rickshaws and people walking to the station. It is a simple life, running a shop and making sure we don't run out of the basics. We don't do deliveries or anything fancy, people just walk in and get what they want. It is just how a local store should be, right in the heart of the community.
