This branch of ATLAS COPCO (INDIA) Ltd. is the Power Technique Division over in Sveanagar, Dapodi, right off the Old Mumbai road. It’s a big site compared to a regular shop. We have a lot of heavy stuff coming in and out. The yard usually has some big machines sitting there, and there’s always the sound of someone working on an engine or checking a compressor. We spend a lot of time in our work gear. Dapodi is an old industrial spot, and we fit right in with the rest of the warehouses and workshops. It’s not a very quiet place to work. We have people coming in from all over to look at the equipment or to pick up parts for their own jobs. The office part is separate, but we’re usually out where the machines are. It gets pretty greasy sometimes. We have a routine of checking the inventory and making sure the orders are lined up for the next morning. The sun can get really hot in the yard during the afternoon, so we try to do the heaviest lifting early on. It’s been our home for a long time. There’s a lot of history in these old walls. We just keep our heads down and handle the equipment as it comes. Sometimes the gate gets stuck, and we have to give it a good kick to open. It's just a regular day for the crew here in Dapodi.
