Asiapower Overseas Employment Services is located in Kalina at 2C/11, Indian Airlines Colony 2. This part of Santacruz East in Mumbai is always moving because we are so close to the airport and the main transit lines. Working out of the colony means we are surrounded by families and other people just going about their daily lives. Our office is basically a few rooms where we manage all the details for people looking for jobs in other countries. It is a lot of back-and-forth with documents and passports, so the desks are usually covered in stacks of paper that we try our best to keep organized. The air conditioner in the main room is a bit loud, but it is necessary during the humid months in Mumbai. We have been here for a while and the locals know us as the place where people come when they are planning to move away for work. Sometimes the security guard at the colony gate asks people too many questions, which can be annoying, but it keeps the place safe. We don't have fancy decorations or modern furniture, just the stuff we need to get the job done. Every day starts with checking the emails and ends with filing away the folders we finished. It is a busy environment but we are used to the pace of life here in Kalina.
