Ashutosh Import & Export P. Ltd

We are over at 66, Damodar Anand Bldg., at 30 Vaju Kotak Marg in Fort. Being in the Fort area means everything feels old and solid. Ashutosh Import & Export P. Ltd has been tucked away in this building for years. The elevator is one of those old ones that shakes a bit, so most of us just take the stairs if we aren't carrying heavy files. Our office is full of ledgers and paperwork because that’s just how import-export goes, even with computers. There's always something stuck at the port or some document that needs a stamp. It gets noisy outside with all the people and the traffic near the station. We’ve got big windows but they’re usually shut to keep the dust out. Inside, it’s just us sitting at our desks, talking to agents and checking schedules. We have a lot of files from years ago that we probably should throw out, but they just sit there on the high shelves. It’s a bit dusty, and the tea guy comes by twice a day which is the highlight for most of us. We aren't doing anything glamorous, just moving goods from one place to another and dealing with the headaches that come with it. It’s steady work and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the Fort area. There’s always another ship or another truck to worry about tomorrow. It keeps us busy enough.
