Ashirwad Tool Centre is located at Shop No 80/A on Baroda Street, over in Masjid. If you've been to this part of town, you know it’s one of the busiest places for trade. Our shop is packed from floor to ceiling with all kinds of tools. We have wrenches, hammers, drill bits, and things I sometimes forget we even stocked. It’s a small shop, so we have to use every inch of wall space to hang things. Customers come in all day long, mostly workers from the docks or local mechanics who need a specific tool for a job. We know most of them by name since they’ve been coming here for years. It’s usually loud outside with the handcarts and the lorries trying to squeeze through Baroda Street. Inside, it’s a bit of a squeeze too. If two people come in at once, one usually has to wait by the door. We don’t use any fancy barcodes or computers. If someone asks for a 12mm spanner, I know exactly which box to pull out from the back. It’s a bit dusty and the lighting isn’t the best, but we get the job done. Sometimes we stand out front for a bit of air and watch the chaos of the market. It is a simple life of selling hardware to people who need to fix things. We open early and stay until the sun goes down.
