Arvind Engineering Works

We've got our workshop set up at Vini Gardens, which is right by the Mhada Society in Kandivali West. It’s a decent-sized space for the kind of engineering jobs we take on. Mostly, we deal with metal parts, fixing things up, or making specific pieces that people need for their machines. It’s loud and there’s always the smell of oil and cut metal in the air. We’ve had this spot for years and the locals know the sound of our machines. Sometimes it’s a bit messy with scraps on the floor, but we clear it out when we can. We do a lot of turning and milling, the usual stuff you’d expect from a machine shop. My guys have been doing this for a long time, so they know their way around the lathes. We aren't a high-tech lab; it’s more about grit and getting the dimensions right. Sometimes a customer brings in a broken part that looks like it's from fifty years ago and we have to figure out how to replicate it. That’s the fun part of the job, really. The shop can get quite hot in the afternoons, but we just keep working. We aren't big on talking, we mostly just focus on the task in front of us.
