We’ve got a small office on the ground floor at number 5 in Santacruz East. It’s a pretty straightforward setup. We spent a lot of time thinking about how to help folks find work around here. It’s not always easy for people to find the right job, so we try to bridge that gap. Our space is usually full of people coming in to drop off their resumes or just to ask if there’s anything new available. We have a couple of old desks and a few computers that aren't the newest, but they do the job. My brother and I run the place mostly. We don't use a lot of fancy corporate talk because that just confuses people. We just sit down and talk to whoever walks through the door. Sometimes the phones don't stop ringing all morning, and other times it’s quiet enough to hear the street noise outside. We’ve seen all sorts of people come through here looking for a start. It’s a lot of work keeping track of who needs what, and our files are getting a bit out of hand, but we know where everything is. We aren't some giant agency in a skyscraper. We’re just local people in a ground-floor office trying to help other locals get a paycheck. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy every single day of the week. We try to keep things simple for everyone involved in the process.
