We are located in Godown No. F, which is part of the old Krishna Cotton Press on Zakaria Bunder Road. Sewaree West is a busy area, and the roads around here can be a real headache with all the commercial traffic. The building itself has that old, heavy feel to it, with thick walls and high rafters. Inside the godown, it’s mostly just aisles of mattresses wrapped in heavy plastic to keep the dust off. It stays relatively cool inside because of the way the building was made, which is nice during the humid months. We spend most of the morning unloading shipments or organizing the different sizes. There is always a faint smell of cotton and industrial glue in the air. The office part is just a small partitioned area with a computer and a few chairs for visitors. We don’t get a lot of walk-in traffic, mostly just drivers and people who already know where we are. You have to watch your step because there’s usually a pallet or a roll of material in the way. It’s a functional space, nothing more. We take our tea breaks outside on the step when the sun isn’t too direct. Working in an old press building like this has its quirks, like the squeaky gates and the way the light filters through the high windows, but it serves us well for storing everything we need to move.
