Anshul Finance Company is located at 13 Kalbadevi, which is right across the street from the Bhagat Tarachand Hotel. If you have ever been to this part of the city, you know how packed the streets get with people and shops. Our office is a modest spot where we handle all sorts of money matters and paperwork for the locals. It is not the kind of place with shiny glass walls; it is a real working office with files everywhere and a lot of history in the walls. We have been here for years, watching the hotel across the way get busy every lunchtime. Most of the people who come to see us are small business owners from around Kalbadevi who need a bit of help with their financing or just want to discuss a loan. We sit across the table and go through the details together. It takes time to get the papers right, so there is usually a lot of sitting and talking involved. We do not use any complicated talk or fancy systems. We just use what works and try to help our neighbors out when they are in a pinch. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic with the noise from the street coming through the windows, but we are used to it by now. It is just the way things are in this neighborhood. We drink a lot of chai to keep going through the afternoon.
