Golden Hardware Mumbai

Our shop is number 44 in the Sadi Suman Building, right on J.P. Road. It is directly opposite the old Apna Bazar, which is a landmark everyone in Andheri West knows. Being in D.N. Nagar means it is always noisy outside with the rickshaws and the metro overhead, but we are used to it by now. The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with drawers of screws, bolts, and all sorts of metal bits. We spend a lot of time climbing up the ladder to find that one specific size of hinge or a particular drill bit someone needs. It is a small space, so things can get a bit cramped when three or four people come in at once. We usually have the radio playing in the background to drown out the street noise. The mornings are for restocking the shelves and making sure we didn't run out of the basics. Sometimes the rain leaks in a bit near the front door during the monsoon, so we keep some old sacks handy to soak it up. People stop by for a quick chat or to ask for advice on fixing a leaky pipe. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know where every single nut and bolt is hidden. It is a practical life, helping people find what they need to fix their homes. It is a lot of work but it keeps us busy.
