Working at 41339 in Andheri West near Amboli Fatak means we are always hearing the sounds of the trains or the gates closing. Anam Wood Work is a place where there is always sawdust on the floor and the sound of a saw cutting through a plank. We don't have a quiet office; we have a workshop where things actually get built. Most of our days are spent measuring twice and cutting once, or at least that’s the plan until something goes a bit crooked. We have piles of timber stacked against the walls and tools scattered across the benches because we are always in the middle of three different things. The air is thick with the scent of wood and glue, which you get used to after a few days. Being near the fatak means people are always passing by, and sometimes they stop in just to see what we are making. It’s a messy, loud, and honest way to make a living. We don't have a website with fancy photos; we just have the pieces we finished yesterday sitting in the corner waiting to be picked up. It is just a few of us here working with our hands and trying to make sure the joints are tight and the finish is smooth enough. We aren't trying to be an interior design firm, just some guys who know how to work with wood. It gets hot in the afternoons but the work keeps us going.
