Amhi Furniture

We are based out of unit 419 in the Sun Industrial Estate over in Lower Parel. We also have some connection to Aram Nagar No 2 in Andheri West, so we are often moving between these two places. It makes for a busy schedule. In the industrial estate, it is mostly about the smell of wood and the sound of tools. It is a dusty environment, but that is part of making furniture. We have piles of boards and half-finished pieces sitting around most of the time. It is not a polished showroom where everything is perfect. We have scratches on the floor and tools scattered on the benches. We are just a group of people who like working with our hands. Sometimes a design doesn't go right the first time and we have to start over. That’s just part of the process. We don't have a front desk person or anything. If you come by, you'll probably find us in the middle of a project with sawdust on our clothes. We try to keep up with the orders, but sometimes things take a bit longer than expected. The industrial estate is a noisy place with a lot of trucks moving in and out. It’s where real work happens. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to make things that people can actually use in their homes. It is hard work, but we really enjoy it and we take pride in what we make.
