Alankar Traders

Alankar Traders is located in a ground floor flat, No 36, in Building No 7 of Guru Darshan. It’s on Goli Bar Road over in Jagadusha Nagar in Ghatkopar West. It is a bit unusual to have a trading business in a residential building but it works for us since we don't need a huge storefront. We have been in Ghatkopar for a long time and the neighborhood has changed a lot since we started. Our space is filled with all sorts of items we trade and sometimes it feels like we are living inside a warehouse. We have to be careful with how we stack things so we don't block the hallway. My brother and I run the whole thing and we do everything from picking up the goods to writing the invoices. It is a lot of physical labor especially when the weather is hot and humid. Goli Bar Road is always busy so getting deliveries in and out can be a real struggle with the narrow lanes and the parked cars everywhere. We don't really do any big promotions or sales events. We just wait for our regular customers to call and then we get to work. Sometimes we stay late to finish up the counting and other times we close early if the work is done. It’s a simple setup and we like the independence of running our own small shop without any corporate bosses breathing down our necks.
