Al Ayaz Furniture

Our furniture shop, Al Ayaz Furniture, is right on Station Road in Bandra West. We are at Shop No 35, directly across from Shaheen Bazar. It is a very busy street, especially in the evenings when everyone is coming home from the station. We deal with all kinds of wood and furniture pieces. The shop is often full of sawdust and the smell of polish, which I have grown to like over the years. We aren't like those big showrooms in the malls with bright lights. It’s a bit cramped in here because we try to fit as much stock as possible. Sometimes it's hard to walk through the aisles without bumping into a chair or a table leg. We work with local craftsmen who know their stuff. My father started this years ago, and I just took over and kept it going. We don't have a big sales pitch. You come in, look at what we have, and we talk about the price. It’s straightforward. Some days we are very busy with deliveries and other days we just sit and wait for customers while drinking tea. Bandra is a fast place, but inside the shop, we try to take our time to get things right. It’s not a perfect setup, but it’s our livelihood and we take it seriously enough to stay open every day. There is always a lot to clean up at night, but that is part of the job. Most of our pieces are solid wood and built to last.
