Aashtich India Private Limited is basically us, a small group of people working out of House 30 in Popatwadi. If you know the area near Princess Street, you know how busy it gets every single day. We spend most of our time inside these walls on Kalbadevi Road, just trying to get through the orders and manage the paperwork. It’s not a fancy place by any means. The stairs are a bit narrow and the noise from the street outside never really stops, but it’s where we do everything. Most mornings start with someone bringing in tea from the stall around the corner while we look at what needs to be shipped out. We’ve got desks piled with files and the fans are usually running at full speed because it gets quite stuffy in here during the afternoons. There isn’t a big corporate team or anything like that, just a few of us making sure things don’t fall apart. Sometimes the deliveries are late because the trucks can’t get through the narrow lane, so we end up waiting around talking about the weather or local news. It’s a very local way of doing things, I suppose. We don’t have a big reception area or shiny signs, just the address and our work. We’ve been at this spot for a while now and everyone in the building knows us. It feels right being right in the middle of all that chaos on Kalbadevi Road.
