I spend most of my day in the shop on S V Road in Malad West. Being at Shop No 7 means I see a lot of people passing by every single day. People lose their keys all the time, or they just need a spare for their house or car. It happens to everyone at some point. We keep the machines running here to cut those keys quickly so you don't have to wait around for hours on the sidewalk. Sometimes folks can't bring their locks to us, so we go out to them. That's the mobile part of the work we do. It gets busy, especially when the traffic is bad on the main road and we are trying to get to a call. I've been doing this for a while now. It’s a simple job, really. You have a lock that won’t open or a key that snapped off, and I try my best to fix it. We have different kinds of metal blanks for all sorts of locks. If you walk past the shop, you'll probably hear the sound of the grinder. It’s not a fancy place, just a small workspace filled with metal bits and tools everywhere. I try to stay organized, but there's always a pile of something on the counter. Malad is a crowded spot. We just do the work as it comes in. Nothing too complicated about it. We open up in the morning and stay until the work is done. It’s just how things go.
