Silver Collection

Silver Collection is tucked away inside Jalil Mansion at 234, Nai Basti Street. It’s an old building, and the stairs are narrow and a bit steep. If you aren't looking for the sign, you might walk right past it. The street outside is always packed with people and vendors, so it’s never quiet. Inside, we have our little setup where we handle all the silver items. It’s not like those big fancy jewelry stores you see in the malls. It’s a workshop first. We have small benches with tiny tools and lamps everywhere because the light isn't great in these old rooms. There’s a lot of polishing going on, which makes a specific whirring sound. We get a lot of dust from the polishing, so we are always wiping down the counters. It’s a bit of a maze in here with all the small cabinets and drawers full of different pieces. I’ve been working in this area for years, and I know most of the people on the street. We often go down to the corner to get some samosas or tea in the afternoon. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are in the main room, but we make it work. The building has a lot of history, though mostly it just feels like an old place that needs a new coat of paint. We just focus on the work on the bench and don't worry about the rest.
