Shalimar International

Our place, Shalimar International, is located right by the Kohinoor Tiraha on Sambhal Road. It is a very busy spot because the bypass Karula is just a stone's throw away. You can always hear the heavy trucks and the horns honking as they head toward the main highway. We have been here for a good while, and the building has seen a lot of seasons. The walls have a few cracks here and there, and the paint is peeling a bit near the bottom from the monsoon rains. Inside, it’s a mix of office desks and storage space. We move a lot of stuff through here, so there are always pallets being moved and people checking clipboards. It isn't a quiet office where you can hear a pin drop. There is usually someone shouting across the floor or a phone ringing that nobody picks up right away. We get a lot of dust from the Sambhal Road traffic, so we are always wiping down the desks. Most of us eat lunch together in the small back room or just grab something from the vendors near the Tiraha. We don't have any corporate banners or fancy mission statements on the walls. It is just a place where we come to get the work done and manage the logistics. The sun sets right over the bypass, and that’s usually when we start locking up the gates for the night. It’s just how things are here.
