We are based at 86, Subhash Bazar in Meerut. Our office is right near the B.A.V. Inter College, so we hear the school bells and the noise of students every day. Subhash Bazar is a very busy market area. There’s always someone shouting, bikes honking, and the general chaos of a Meerut market. It’s not the easiest place to find a parking spot, that’s for sure. Most of us just walk or take a rickshaw. Essar Steel Limited has been operating out of this spot for a while. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a regular brick and mortar setup in the middle of a row of shops. Inside, we have our desks and a lot of papers. We deal with the steel business from here, mostly focused on the local market and the nearby regions. The winters in Meerut get really cold, so we usually have a small heater going under the desk. In the summer, it’s the opposite and we’re all sweating. We don’t use any fancy management speak here. We just talk like normal people and get the job done. If someone comes in with a question, we answer it. It’s a basic, no-frills kind of place. We’ve got a small kettle for making tea and we mostly just focus on the task at hand. It’s a gritty, honest place to work and we’ve gotten used to the noise.
