If you head over to Gandhi Nagar and look for Gali No. 3 in Sardhana, you’ll find Amba Steels. Vishu Jain runs the place. It’s right there in Meerut, which is a place that knows a thing or two about hard work. Our shop isn't much to look at from the outside, just a gate and a lot of steel tucked away inside. We deal with heavy metal all day long, so there’s always the sound of clanging and trucks idling out in the lane. It’s a narrow street, so getting the big deliveries in and out can be a bit of a headache sometimes, but we manage. The air always smells a bit like iron and exhaust. We don’t have a receptionist or a waiting room. If you come by, you’ll probably find one of us covered in a bit of grit, standing near the scales or checking a delivery note. It’s physical work, and by the end of the day, we’re all pretty tired. Sardhana is a tight-knit area, and we’ve been part of Gali No. 3 for quite some time now. We don't bother with fancy brochures or anything like that. We just focus on the steel. People come to us because they know we’re here and we have what they need. It’s a basic operation, run by regular people who just want to get the job done and go home.
