Bal Shiksha Sadan

Bal Shiksha Sadan is tucked away in Uncha Mohalla, over in the Kaserukhera area of Meerut. If you are from around here, you know that these streets can be quite narrow and busy. Our school has been part of this neighborhood for a long time. It is a basic building, nothing flashy or modern about it. We have rooms for different classes and we try to make the most of the space we have. Being in the 250001 area means we are right in the middle of a very active part of Uttar Pradesh. The sounds of the market and the traffic are always in the background. We don't use any high-tech teaching tools; it is mostly just chalkboards and books. The families in Kaseru Khera know us well. We see the same faces every day. It is a community school through and through. We are not trying to be the biggest school in Meerut. We just want to be a place where kids can come and learn their basics. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to open the windows for light, but we manage. It is a very grounded way of living and working. We are proud to be in Uncha Mohalla and to serve the people who live on these streets. It is just a normal, everyday school for normal people. We keep the front door open during the day so the air can circulate. Many of the former students still live nearby and say hello when they pass by.
