K. C. Granites

K. C. Granites is located at Survey No. 321/c3 in Martur Vg. It's out in the Ongole District, where the landscape is pretty much dominated by stone and dust. Being on a survey plot means we have a bit more space, which is good because granite takes up a lot of room. The sun hits the yard pretty hard out here, and there isn't much shade unless you’re standing right under the equipment sheds. We get the raw blocks from the quarries nearby and then start the long process of turning them into something people can actually use. There is a lot of noise from the heavy cranes moving the blocks, and you have to be careful where you stand. The dust in Martur is something else, it gets into everything no matter what you do. We’ve been working this plot for a while now. It’s a family-run sort of thing, with everyone pitching in where they can. We don't have a fancy entrance or any statues out front. It's just a working yard where the goal is to get the stone cut and loaded onto the next truck heading out. Some days the machinery acts up and we spend more time with a wrench than a stone, but that's part of the life. We just keep going until the light fades and the last truck leaves the gate for the day.
