Rathnas Wine Gate

We sit in the Emjays Complex over in Balmatta, Mangalore. It's a well-known corner of the city. Being in the complex means we have neighbors who are also running their own small businesses. It’s a lively spot throughout the day. We’ve been here for a good amount of time, seeing the city change around us. The setup inside is pretty basic. We have shelves and a counter, and we just focus on getting people what they're looking for. We don't use any big words or marketing tricks. It’s just a shop where people come in, get their stuff, and head back out. Mangalore has its own pace, especially with the weather, and we just fit into that. Sometimes the rain gets heavy in Balmatta, but we stay open. We know a lot of the folks who live nearby and stop in regularly. It’s a simple business model. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that on the walls. We just want to make sure the inventory is stocked and the door is open when it’s supposed to be. It’s honest work. Most of our day is spent talking to customers or moving boxes around. If you are near the Emjays building, you can't really miss us. We are just a local fixture in this part of town, doing what we do every day. It's how we've always done things here.
