Kodgi Granites

Our place is located out in Village Amasebail, right along the road to Siddapura. If you’re driving from Kundapur, you’ll find us tucked away in the Udupi countryside. It’s a quiet area for the most part, except for when we’ve got the saws running. We handle a lot of granite here. The weather gets pretty wet during the monsoon, which makes moving the heavy slabs a bit tricky in the mud, but we manage. Most of the guys working here are from the nearby villages. We wake up early, get the machines started, and work until the sun goes down. It isn’t a glamorous business. There’s always a bit of a mess with water and stone scraps everywhere. We keep the different colors of granite stacked against the walls so people can see the patterns. Sometimes local builders stop by to see what we have in stock. We don’t spend money on big signs or anything. People usually find us because they know the road or someone told them about the yard in Amasebail. Working with stone takes a lot of patience because it’s heavy and hard to move. We just focus on getting the slabs cut to the right size. It's a steady life out here in the taluk, just cutting stone and watching the trucks go by on the Siddapura road. We just do our work and go home.
