Sujapur Maakali Farmers Producer Company Limited

You can find us over in Murshidabad at Pujan Mondal’s place. He’s Shambhu’s son, and his family has been here for a long time. We are a farmers producer company, which basically means a bunch of us got together to handle our crops and supplies in a better way. The village of Sujapur is quiet most of the time, except when it’s planting season. Then, everyone is out and about. Our office is just a part of the house really. We sit around and talk about things like the price of seeds or how the weather is looking for the next month. It isn't a professional setup with glass desks. We use old wooden tables and keep our files in big metal cupboards. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we do a lot of things by hand in our ledgers. It’s a lot of tea drinking and talking to neighbors who drop by. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know the local land. Murshidabad has good soil, but the work is still hard. We don't try to sound like some big city company because we aren't. We are just local people trying to make the farming life a bit more organized for everyone involved. It gets hot in the summer, but we just keep the windows open and keep working through the afternoon.
