Majlishbag Malda Bamboo Handicraftsproducer Company Limited

We are based in the village of Gabgachhi in Kamalabari. Our workshop is on the ground floor of House No N0124, which belongs to Eshamuddin Saikh. It’s a quiet spot in Malda, far away from the big city bustle. We started this bamboo handicraft company because there’s so much bamboo around here and plenty of people who know how to work with it. It’s not a factory with assembly lines. It’s more of a community space where people sit and weave. You’ll find shavings and scraps of bamboo all over the floor, and the air smells like cut wood. We make things by hand, which takes time. We aren't looking for quick profits or trying to be famous. We just want to keep the local craft alive and provide some work for the neighbors. Sometimes the bamboo isn't the right quality, or the weather is too damp to work, but we manage. We don't have a showroom with bright lights. If you want to see our baskets or furniture, you just come to the house. We’ll show you what the team has been working on lately. It’s a very simple setup. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We just take what grows in the ground and turn it into something useful. It’s hard on the hands, but it feels good to see the finished pieces. We've been here a while now.
