Our spot is building number 331/6 in Ananthavoor, part of the Thirunnavaya Gramapanchayath. We are the Tirur Betel Leaf Producer Company Limited. If you walk inside, you’ll mostly see betel leaves being sorted and packed. It’s a specific kind of work, and the leaves have to be handled just right so they stay fresh. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a practical space where we can get the work done away from the sun. Tirur is known for these leaves, and we take that seriously, even if we don't act all fancy about it. Most of us grew up around these vines, so it’s just second nature now. There’s always a bit of a breeze coming through the doors, which helps when it’s hot. We spend our days chatting while we work, mostly about local stuff or how the vines are doing this season. It’s a community thing more than anything else. We don't have a big corporate structure or expensive office chairs. We just have tables for sorting and a lot of hands that know what they are doing. Sometimes the orders come in fast and we have to stay late, but that’s just how it goes in Ananthavoor. We are glad to be part of the village life here and keeping the local betel leaf tradition going as best as we can without making a fuss. It keeps us busy and pays the bills, which is all we really want for our families.
