Maria English Medium School

Maria English Medium School is located in Karivena Village, which is a small spot in the Atmakur area. Plot No 99 is pretty easy to find once you get into the village lanes. It’s a very quiet place compared to the towns nearby. Most of our students come from the houses and farms in the immediate area. We started this school because there were not many places around here that taught lessons in English. The building itself is very simple, just a few rooms and a small open area where the kids can run around during their lunch break. We do not have a massive budget, so we often end up fixing things ourselves when a door handle breaks or a wall needs a bit of paint. The teachers are mostly local people who wanted to stay close to home. On rainy days, the path to the school can get a bit muddy, but the children still manage to show up for their classes. We have a couple of computers, but we mainly rely on blackboards and notebooks for everything. It’s a practical way of running things and it works for the community here. We don't have fancy uniforms or expensive equipment. Sometimes, if it’s too hot inside, the classes move under the trees. The parents often stop by to talk while they are heading to their work. We know everyone by name and it feels very local.
