Velavan Veg

We are located in Surya Towers on the Bypass Road in Madurai. It’s a busy spot in Chockalinga Nagar, and if you are looking for us, we are right near the SFC Chicken. The traffic on the bypass is always moving fast, and there is a lot of dust and noise, but once you step inside Velavan Veg, it’s a bit quieter. We started this place because we saw how many people were traveling along this road every day needing a decent meal. The dining area has simple tiles and basic lighting that we installed ourselves. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks; we just put a sign out front and hoped for the best. Most of our staff live nearby in Chockalinga Nagar, so we’ve known each other for a long time. Every morning starts with the same routine of cleaning the floors and checking the vegetable supplies that come in on the trucks. Madurai is famous for food, so we know people have a lot of choices around here. We just try to keep our kitchen clean and our food consistent every day of the week. Sometimes the sink leaks or a lightbulb flickers, and we just fix it and keep moving. It's a lot of manual work and long hours, but we’ve built a steady group of regulars who come in for their morning coffee or an afternoon snack. We don't have a mission statement or anything, we just want to get through the day and serve people who walk in.
